Howdy All,
I've got 4 FJ20 Engines - 2 Turbo, 2 NA. I paid a fair bit for them a couple of years ago, but I have no idea what they are worth now?
Can anyone give me a going rate?

First off I would be asking are you wanting to sell them or are you just interested to see how you investment it going.
Second, what is the state of the engines, are they complete in running condition, missing externals, stripped ?
And finally what sort of money would you think you would like for them, These thing will surely determine the apporximate value of each of the engines.
I may be interested in one of the turbo engines, so if you let my know what the status of these engines are I may be in a better position to make an offer.

I'd like to get rid of them.
The 2 turbos are complete Engines - One minus manifold and turbo, one complete, One NA is complete and the other is minus inlet manifold, sump and exhaust manifold.
The engines were purchased by me a couple of years ago as I had 2 FJ powered cars ar the time - my DR and my Fairlady.
As I said I paid above going rate for them then. I was thinking 1800 for a complete turbo down to 1000 for the NA missing the sump and manifolds.
They remain as purchased from an engine importer.
The motors are in Welshpool Western Australia.

I'd say 1500 for the turbo motor minus manifold and turbo.
The motors are in good running order as far as I can tell.

Without boxes and ecu's harness etc you will be lucky to get $500 for the n/a minus sump/mani etc, $800 for the complete n/a unit, the turbo minus manifold maaaybe $1000, and probably $1200/$1300 for the complete turbo at most, these are just what I would pay for them especially as it's a private sale with no warranties etc.

Chill guys I was just trying to get a feeler for what they are worth. There's no way in hell I'd offer any sort of warranty on a motor that was over 20 years old at the very earliest. If you were going to lean on the motors you'd want to at least put a gasket kit through them, prefferably a set of shells as well, you'd be a moron not to.
So 600 for the Bare NA, 1000 for the complete NA, 1200 for the turbo minus exhaust manifold and 1500 for the turbo complete.
The motors are in Perth Metro and I can arrange freight if need be.
If you'd like to make me a realistic offer then send me an email - jash@tpgi.com.au

What he says ^^

Last year, ichiban had a whole batch of complete NAs going for 500 each. I wouldnt pay more than 250 for the stripped NA... costs for exhaust manifold, sump, inlet manifold, injectors etc prohibit a good sale price adn the fact that it was obviously a donor engine for ancillary parts.

the original poster had no idea on how much they're worth, then he quotes one and you grill him. If you DID have an idea of how much they're remotely worth then why didnt you suggest one in the first place.

I have a FJ20DET turbo in my silver 4 door DR30 and i have no idea how much the engine (let alone the whole car) is worth either. I'm also located in Perth, so hopefully this'll give me some sort of price range i could work on if i wanted to sell it (engine or the car, preferably the latter).

To the OP, go talk to this guy called Steve at Top Racing in Bentley, he's worked on a few FJ20s before, so he might have some advice for you if you havent been there already.

hope that helps

I just bought a FJ20ET. It came with everything. Turbo, intake and exhaust manifolds, downpipe, fusebox, ECU, wiring harness, intercooler, BOV, cold air intake, all the ic piping, engine mounts, atlernator, power steering pump, A/C condenser, clutch, even the 5 speed gearbox. It came with a 90 day warranty and shipped to my door in the States for $1500USD (about $1900ASD). Of course the value may increase around here because they are sooo rare. Supply and demand, you know.

Youre right about that ryan, supply and demand. Look at your 32 gtr prices compared to ours..... even your sr front cuts compared to ours.

But then again, you have so many other goodies tha are cheaper:

turbos, gates, ignition plus the nhra!!!!!!!!!

Where are you in the states?

Yeah, I guess everything evens itself out. This is my second FJ20ET, the first one I got for free, so between the two of them, I suppose I did all right. But I think I would trade the NHRA if I could have readily available, inexpensive GTR's. Oh yeah, I'm in Wisconsin.
