Dattos for sure... hehe only sayin that thause i love em
I have had both types of car and i feel the 1600 handling is the go but a gemini would have the solid rear end, my 1600 bogs down during hard launches this makes it hard to lay a decent strip time cause the camber increase means you lose trye contact resulting in wheelspin... well more wheelspin
My old Gemini couldnt spin sht so its hard to say, but fitting wise the FJ and 1600 looms are very simular and info is everywhere, i havnt been in a FJ Gemini so it would be good to hear from the guys here with them... im unsure whats involved with the Gemini swap
The Rigoli FJ Gemini is a few secs quicker than the top FJ 1600 ATM and i know the Rigoli one is nuts but its almost impossible to get a good time with a IRS car... notice how many rotorys are under 10's they all have solid rear end
If your interested in street driving and cornering i would pick datto cause they are so well handling, id hate to be in a situation i couldnt get out of
Anyhow... GO DATTO that is if you like pickin up

is my screen name enough? or should i still reply :P haaha
never owned or driven a datto.. they look to boxy flame suit
any who.. fj20 conversion in a gem is pretty easy.. nothing out of the norm is needed compaired to most converison... theres also heaps of off the shelf parts (stock and aftermarket) avalable for the gemini.. tho conversion parts wil have to be custom.. my guess there are conversion kits/parts avalable to do the swap into the dattos due to there popularity and maybe datto owners not knowing how to do it themself?? giggles
yeah well my post its pretty pointles, just wanted to throw a vote in there for the gmeini..
PS gemini is lighter . and parts for a gemini are plentafull and cheap unlike datto ones when u brake something

The datto rear end is a pain in the ass.
Gem is light, live rear end = fast (in a straight line) which is what i like, though you may not.

Every Leb and their cousin has a gemini, that totally rules them out for any conversion or ownership in my book.
Datsuns have style (and resale value), off the shelf conversion kits, and when you turn the steering wheel the car follows.
A drag car might change the situation, I saw the rigoli built gemini run a 8 second quarter....
But i'd still rather do a 14 second pass in a datsun.

The datsun independent rear suspension is fine for drags if you sit down and think about what needs to be done. Semi trailing arm type suspension found in 1600s, 180 B, import 200b, S12 RSX etc. is pretty much the same design throughout. I can run 9.1's in my S12 with stock IRS and a set of old adjustable shocks, so its a capable design for BOTH drags and circuit work.
