There is a threaded adapter that screws into the back of the rear drivers side of the cylinder head - this is the hot water supply to the short hose .
Fj20's have a steel pipe that runs from near the water pump and back round the block (under the thermostat housing and inlet manifold) and beside the block back to where the other heater hose comes through the firerwall on a DR30 .
In std form the FJ's throttlebody has a water heated cell that takes water from a barbed fitting towards the front of the head and returns the water back to the steel water pipe . Actually the heated TB system doubles as a water pump bypass passage .
Should you choose not to have a heater connected its not a bad idea to plumb the back fitting in the head to the back of the steel water pipe , the water pump can then cycle water from the pump around the cylinder head and back via this pipe allowing the engine to warm up faster and more evenly from cold . | |
