gday,
ive been reading through old threads about valve springs and boost @ high rpm.
i want to change my valve springs so i can run some more boost andf rpm.
at the moment im running 18psi from my t04 with standard cams and springs. im changing my progate springs to a 24psi combo and lifting the limiter at the next tune and i want to know what valve springs are best to use. the tomei ones seem to have a good reputation but is there anything else to suit?
engine is prepared with forgies, preppd rods and crank, steel head gasket, 1000cc injectors etc etc. what are my options?

i had to use 120pound springs to safely run 28psi,before was running 90pound which were fine on 24psi but wen i ran 28psi it was getting back pressure from turbine housing and caused valve float which hammered all the keepers and caused one of the shims on top of the valve to come out.this is only revving to 7700 rpm.i also went to a bigger turbine housing to get rid of some of the back pressure.

I'd be looking at ways to increase the gas flow without increasing manifold pressure particularly on the exhaust side .

What are you using in the way of a manifold and turbo and what are your power requirements .

One thing to remember is that pressure is not directionally proportional to gas flow and in fact boost pressure is believe it or not a measure of resistance to airflow . If it were possible to remove all the inlet restrictions you could move the same volume of air with minimul pressure .

To use highly effective manifolds/turbos/intercoolers means you can often get away with sane boost levels , less fuel pressure and more advanced ignition timing .

All depends on the budget and the app .

DP03 .

Manifold is a Fantasy Performance tuned length steam pipe manifold. Turbo is Garrett T04, Compressor A/R 70, Exhaust Turbine A/R .82 . Wastegate is 48mm Progate.
Has made 308hp at the wheels on 18psi, I want to go to 24psi at next tune with 1000cc injectors and Fantasy fuel rail on a big tune and go for 400+hp at the wheels.
But im think the standard valve springs will float around like the Manly ferry on a big swell LOL , what do ya's think?
