recently bought a dr30 with some fairly substantial mods
so far on 98 ron pump fuel it made 380 rwhp on 18 psi
in your experience what would u push the motor too power/boost wise? i know its a very broad question with many variables, but to see what other poeple have done on similar mods will give me an indication of what to do or not to do
id like to push it as much as i can with a small margin for error. say its good for 500 rwhp, id like to push to 450 or so
engine mods are
Engine:
2.1 L FJ20DET 4 Cylinder
Head has been Ported and Polished by Ashford Racing
Cam Shafts 292deg
Ashford Racing Adjustable Cam gears
Performance Springs – Valve Springs
Pauter Rods
JE Pistons – Oversized 80 Thou 91mm Bore
Total Seal Rings
Cometic Multi layer metal Head Gasket
3 Stage Dry Sump
9:1 Compression Ratio
haltech E11v2
1000cc injectors
big fuel pump
will do next tune on c16 or similar race fuel.
gimme ur thoughts on what might be possible and boost limits i should ahere too

forgot to mention it has a GT40r .82 turbo
hks 60mm waste gate
custom plenum
big intercooler
fuel pressure reg
everything is there to support some big power, just wanna know where the limit might be

Did Mark build a lot of your engine?
Mark built my engine from start to finish but its a wet sump with an external pump rather than a dry sump.
Im making similar power with similar boost. (395@17@8100rpm) I would have pumped a lot more boost in last time i went for a tune but my injectors ran out. (550s) where im going with this is that we are similar in that respect with engine build. So As far as pushing it. I feel an engine with that level of mods will withstand most of what you throw at it just as long as it doesnt detonate.
I wouldnt really hesitate to be around the 25-28psi mark. Even on pump fuel. I spoke with Mark about the upper limits and especially with your turbo package, 500rwhp should be achieveable i feel.

With what you have said you have you can surly make a lot more reliable power than you have currently, assuming the engine is built right, you just need to set it up right in regard to cam timing and tune etc. My engine has a few more mods than what you have said but very similar, I recently had it tuned on an engine Dyno and on shell racing 100+ it made 560hp on 20psi (street tune), and this was on a very hot February day with room temp over 45degC.
I was also running 26deg ignition advance, but with your engine having 9.1CR you will not be able to run that high which will cost you some power. With the engine then run on C16 and 30psi with similar ignition advance it made just under 700hp, with both tunes it made this power under 7000rpm so I will not need to rev it any harder than this which is great for engine longevity. C16 fuel by its self does not really make much more power that pump fuel but it does allow you to put more ignition advance in, which is what makes the power gain.
With lower air temps like what you would have at the creek on a Wednesday night my engine will be pumping out well over 700hp and will find out in the next couple of months what this means in 1/4 mile times. Your engine if as I said earlier is built and tuned right will be able to see very good numbers, maybe not 700 but easily over 500 engine HP. Your biggest problem is its CR of 9.1, great for street driving but not for making big Hp. You will not be able to run much ignition advance which will cost a lot of power and in my experience anything under 22deg is not good for making big power. To offset this you will need to run a very high octain fuel to allow higher advance to see some of these magic hp numbers.
Good luck with it.

im running stock bottom end apart from pistons and knife edged crank, head has mild cams and a port job with springs, running external oil pump.stock ignition with bosch igniter, custom manifolds with 750cc injectors and a turbonetics t61 with a 0.68 turbine housing.autronic ecu.my best power figure with 30psi boost was 560hp a.t.w,this was done with elf moto 124 fuel which is awesome stuff as im running 45deg advance at top end still with not enen a hint of detonation.so with some decent fuel you should be able to make atleast 600hp-all depending on the tuner and how much he wants to push it!!!

I agree. I am running stock head, stock bottom end with WISECO 10.5:1 pistons bored out to 2.1 with dual side drafts. I have a crankfire ignition and run 36 degrees of advance at 5000k.
