gday, im building my dr30 atm and trying 2 get an idea of how much power it will make safely?

its a fresh motor with forgies, cometic headgasket, arp stud kits and lt10 microtec and with the standard turbo and exhaust it did 230rwhp

im fitting a high mount 35/40 with .63 rear, 600x300 cooler, full 3" zorst, 660cc sard injectors larger t.b and fuel pump upgrade etc.

it still has standard top end and unsure as to what the standard valve springs and oil pump will take?

cheers, jon.

Hi,
i had one come in from japan that had no intercooler and the factory air box, larger turbo and ran six injectors, it made 440hp at the wheels, monster!!! great to drive and did'nt chew the fuel unless you always had the boot into it

You can safely achieve around 350rwhp on normal unleaded fuel with your engine setup, depending on the ammount of boost you wind into it.
My engine is very similar ie: forged pistons, steel head gasket, prepared rods and crank, arp bolts, acl race bearings, gt35-40r or similar turbo, big injectors (mine are 1000cc) etc... nothing major, and I got 394rwhp, this was using c16 leaded race fuel and 28psi, which was a nice rich tune, then the clutch started slipping =) so we gave up at 394rwhp.
You dont need to spend tens of thousands of dollars on custom cams and valve train bits to get good (scary) reliable power. If you get the basic stuff right ie: keeping fuel up to it is most important, and good pistons and head gasket, you can wind alot of boost into a well prepared stock-ish FJ and it will be fine.

Just make sure you get the basic stuff sorted before you mess around with that wastegate!

Also dont rev the engine too hard on standard valve springs/cams, especially with alot of boost, you may start to get valve float up around 8000rpm.
Your oil pump will be ok as long as its in good condition (I had mine rebuilt when we did the bottom end) and it's fine, always keeps good oil pressure.

My car was tuned by Dale from Castle Hill Exhaust Centre, western sydney, n.s.w.
Highly recommended, reasonable prices and got the results
