Hey Guys i was wondering what the normal operating water temp is of a standard FJ20ET? I have finally got my exhaust fitted today to my Bluebird and on the way home i noticed the temp gauge reading 190 Fahrenheit. It was only a short drive to get the exhaust fitted, about 5 min down the road. The car was idling for around 5 min before i drove home. Is this normal or should i be worried?

Thats only about 87-88 degrees C. My car has an after market gauge fitted with the sensor mounted at the top of the engine just before the water returns to the radiator, ie the hottest water, and it sits on about 80-90 C, while the factory gauge reads not quite half.
Don't know if that helps or not??

I have my aftermarket temp gauge mounted where the standard temp gauge sensor normally is. I was a bit worried the motor was getting to hot. What is the absolute maximum temp before the engine over heats?
