Is there any power gain to be made by simply swapping the turbo from a non intercooled FJ20 equipped DR30 in place of the intercooled T3 given they are different??

Assuming you run at the same boost pressure/rpm, you hardly likely to feel anything at all.
Itll work just fine as a simple replacement.

For all intents and purposes, you could bolt on just about anything, run it at the same boost pressure and rpm and youd be unlikely to feel much improvement.
Perhaps some changes in the spool times and lag ans so-forth for the better if its a well set up turbo.

Its when you boost/rev the thing right up when the stock item will become breathless and be a "potato in the taiopipe" and the trick item will come onto the "island" and things start to happen.
