main bearings for 2. udresize (fj20e)

hello

where can i buy main bearings for 2. udresize on engine fj20e???

Because all shops in my country don´t know engine FJ20e and i need it very urgent.


Please to advice me some international shop./ i´m from Slovakia, Eastern European Union/

Datsun 180B [or 610 with L18 engine] uses same main bearing size as FJ20.
Also they are available in undersize.

Bearings are the same as the Nissan 610/180B, L18 engine.
The main journals are 54.942-54.955mm and undersized bearings are 0.25mm or 0.0098" for diameter of 54.692-54.705mm.
Factory bearing clearance is 0.1mm or 0.004".
The big end journals are 49.961-49.974mm diameter.

Just a little wrinkle....
It appears that you need to check the oil holes and/or grooves on the bearing shells.
They sometimes do not line up correctly with the oil passages drilled in the FJ20 block.
It depends on the manufacturer of the bearings as to what the situation is.
So, my advice is to keep your old shells and compare them with the L18 type you get.
Then you can modify the oil holes to suit if necessary.

It also follows that the undersizes that are available, would be the range for the L18 engine, not just the 0.25mm I quoted from the FJ20 FSM.
There are three undersizes available: -
0.25mm, crank journal diam = 59.692-59.705mm
0.50mm, crank journal diam = 59.442-59.455mm
0.75mm, crank journal diam = 59.192-59.205mm

Hi

I´v got other problem.

Original main bearings from my FJ20e have 2 holes for oil but
new udresize bearings from L18 have only 1 hole.

How can i solve it?

If I understand you correctly, you have an oil hole drilled in each of the old FJ20 bearing shells, whereas the new ones only have one hole in one shell only?
There is only an oil feed hole in the engine block so the shell you fit to the block needs one hole to line up with the oil feed hole.
The old shell which was fitted to the bearing cap may have had a hole but it is not functional, i.e. the shells are made all the same and the hole in the lower, cap side is redundant.
Both shells for each main bearing should have a groove in them for oil transfer.
You can see this in the attached pic.
Just make sure the upper shell oil hole lines up with the oil feed hole in the engine block as I mentioned in the above post.
Note that the main shells are constructed differently as per the info below.

i'am a bit worried reading this now, i have some acl bearings that were sent from australia and only one half of the shell has a hole and a groove, the other half has no grove at all.

greames: thanks for information but i was read it late.
The man whom grinding my crankshaft made me second oil hole the day before yesterday
Now is all OK. Both holes are in identical place as original bearings.
thanks for help



now have i big problem with piston rings.
please chceck my new topic about it.
