I'm looking to install an air/fuel ratio gauge/meter on my FJ. I'm running a fuel-only microtech computer (the fj is na and used to have carbies on it and still has dizzy from carbies - a series I think??? - works fine) and am unsure if there's an o2 sensor there (I'm thinking not...).
Is there a gauge with a sensor that can be installed (into the exhaust somewhere?) that works independently from the computer?
Thanks in advance!

Short answer is yes but the readily affordable setups they are only useful as a rough guide and some interior bling and little use for good tuning.
The voltage output of an narrow band ego sensor is nowhere near linear and can be influenced heavily on various conditions such as sensor temp and pressure to name just 2.
They only really meaningfully show a very rich or very lean condition but are simply not able to give something useful for even vaguely fine tuning.
This fine tuning can mean the difference between a good days out and your engines brains seeing the light of day if you intend to use some boost!
Jaycar sell small and cheap 10 led display kits that are just an expanded scale low voltage volt meter which hook onto an ego output. They work sufficiently enough as a rough and raw indication.
You can do just as good a job with a narrow band EGO sensor and a multimeter set onto the lowest volts setting and just convert the voltage readings to EGO.
If you want something accurate and repeatable your going to have to unload around a minimum of 500 big ones on a 5 wire wide band EGO sensor, a WB controller and a digital display.
You can then fabricate a detachable "sniffer pipe" to clamp onto the tailpipe and tune away to your hearts content knowing your EGO readings are accurate and repeateable.

i just picked up a AEM Uego wideband sensor with gauge for 200. just check out e-bay, thats the usual going rate for them on there from what i have seen.

I recently purchased a Zietronix wideband O2 controller from the US for $279USD. Was around $35US for shipping. I got it before the Aussie dollar went to **** tho. I think it was at 86c when I got it.
Full laptop software with it. Performs excellent!
