Slightly off topic, but can someone explain to me why a bigger wastegate is required for more boost?
I'd thouhgt the more boost you want,the smaller gate you'd require,but on high boost/high HP cars they always seem to have big gates? Wouldn't it stand to reason that more boost=more gases through the turbine wheel, therefore not as much to bypass through the wastegate? (=smaller gate?)
Or is it more to do with the boost control? ie stop spikes,etc
I expect there's a good explaination for this - I just don't know it!
