external gate serviceOctober 16 2008 at 9:36 PM No score for this post | Gareth (no login) from IP address 78.150.216.225 |
| Hi everyone,
Curious, my car has been sitting for 8 months while i have been overseas, and i had a thought the other day about the external gate.
I have a 48mm Turbosmart external gate on it and i was curious that if it has been sitting for a long time would there be any chance of it seizing up or something like that and needing to be serviced. I understand the simplicity of a gate and have had it apart to change the springs before but never gave it a thought.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
G |

yeah mate worth a thought. i had my car sitting for about 8 months under cover and i had to remove the blow off valve for some better access into the engine bay. and out of curiosity i pushed on the valve and couldn't budge it. i then backed the tension right off and still couldn't move it. i pulled it apart and it was seized shut from sitting around. gave the valve a slight rub with some fine wet and dry and lubed the housing a little bit and it went back together and works perfect | |
