Hello boys and girls,

I decided to start a new topic, where i will put in some info on the progress, but also a loooot of several questions happy.gif

I will start with some background info first.

So i own a S12 Hatch european spec FJ20E.
It has only 64 000 km on the odo, and was hardly ever driven in rain, not talking about any snow!

So the chassis is in perfect condition, no rust at all.

The plan for the powerplant is to have it on a Motec setup (M400 99%) with all electronic ignition.

As i don´t want to abuse this engine with mods, my project engine is out of a spare car.
Last days i disassambled the FJ, resulting in quite good views!

All the bearings look really nice! 1 cylinder is a little bit corroded, but that doesn´t bother me, as i will put in forgies (pistons and rods) anyway, so cylinder will be prepared also.

next days when i find some time, i will check all the parts if they are in the measurements, and then the hard work begins:)

The setup I eye for is CP pistons and carillo conrods.
BTW does anybody know if the Spool rods are any good?

Main problems regarding the engine block are imo the oil squirters (pistons) and oil pump.

Together with this, i have also some questions:
Does anyone know if the OEM oil pump cover sold via ebay is
a) really a oem part
and b) does come with the FJ20ET spec oil pump? i guess yes, as it is rated for skyline DR30 also (did only come as T´s right?)

How did you realize the squirtes for piston cooling?
My favourite at the moment is to drill the main bearings of the crank...

Also some resource q´s

Regarding cams and valves: any resource for those (not oem but uprated ones)
i would be after some 240° duration cams (but REAL 240 by means of 1mm lift to 1 mm lift, not any paper 240´s)
Also are there any aftermarket valves?

Will also put in some piccies next days.

thanks for any help guys!

Hey Michael,I have been told by a friend who is a engine builder(historic race engines all over Australia)that they are a very good rod they are made in Japan and not in China not as good as carillo or par but half the price. As far as valves go I use factory valves with a good valve spring. My datsun 1600 has 300rwhp on 18 psi. Mods are dry sump, motec m4,head has been tided up,forged pistons,n/a fj20 rods, cams (don't no the spec sorry),td05h turbo, custom exhaust manifold(not a good one pipes to long)Hope this is a help.

Hey Morrie,

very interesting.
You´re running N/A Rods? maybe worth a thought.
What rpm does your engine rev to?
piston choice?

would be interested in your spec more detailed, would be nice if you would contact me at m.sakowicz@stohl-racing.com

Thank you for the tipp with ben, will try to contact him!

However, if anyone has some ideas about the questions in the opener post. All answers welcome happy.gif

Hey Michael,it spins through to 8000rpm easy I have the rev limit set to 7500rpm at the moment to give a longer life. Not to sure on the piston brand but they are forges.I think the turbo rods are 870grams and the N/A rods are 100grams lighter,Ben can tell you for sure.

Hey Morrie, sounds very good:)

BTW does anyone except wiseco, tomei and kameari do pistons for the FJ without the need of a custom order? (Arias, JE, CP,....)

Tried to contact ben, but did get no response..... sad.gif

Hey Michael,I think CP and JE are custom but if you look at CP,SR20DET they do a off the shelf 4mm over size which makes it 90mm bore dia,32mm comp height,22mm pin dia(part number SC7329) I have a set on the shel for my next engine, bought them on US Ebay (Eric's Performance Parts)don't remember the price but they were cheap half the price of a custom set.Don't buy Kameari rods the pin size is wrong (21mm should be 22mm)nice rod but to much rooting a round.Ben could be on holiday's. Where are you at(OZ or OVER SEAS).CHEERS
