hey guys,

ive currently brought a fj20 to go in my mk1 escort and iam now looking at buyin a turbo.
the turbo i have in mind is a GT3082R with either a .63 or .82 rear housing. know this is where i need help iam not sure which housing to go for some ppl have said that if igo a .82 it wont be boosting untill 4000rpm or higher, know to me thats to laggy but on the other hand i dont want it boosting at like 2-2500.

what iam after is something around the 3-3500 mark nothing more than that i want it so i can drive it on the street so its not on boost 24/7.
what i have in mind for my car is pretty much basicly going to be a street car but i will be taking out to track days every so often and mayb the odd hillclimb but purely a streeter.

so the specs on the engine will be as follows:
- re-co standard head for know(upgrade later on down track)
- forged rods and pistons
- custome intake & exhaust manifold (can make sort as possible if need to reduce lag)
- GT3082? (be running 20+ psi)
- and has a rb20 5spd behind it

so yer iam pretty much just wanna know what turbo use run with what housings and how you find it and when it comes on boost etc, any other information you have would be appreciated.

cheers dayne

i have a 3076 in mine with the .82 rear. If i had my choice again tho i would go the next turbo size down as it needs too many revs for the street.
Dont be scared to make boost low in the rev range on the street. Its good for drags but.
My next choice will be a gt3071r with .82 housing or even a gt28R etc.

Remember a std fj T3 turbo needs to be kept above 3000rpm too and is sweet on the street so base the turbo on something with similar sized wheels and housings (but with 20psi and a garrett ball bearing core it will be that much better).

I find the stock turbo on my car laggy.. or maybe its just the 8 0 1 comp ratio and it doesnt feel like it goes anywhere till 5.5k

Starting to wish i put my bbt28 on th efj and not sold it, whats worng wiht boost earlier? If you dont want to be in boost dont floor it?
