| Just wondering if there is a on car Bucket shim removal
tool and where can I buy or borrow one.
I'm located in Sydney.

If its an FJ20 you have all you need to do is remove the camshaft, grab a small magnet to lift the buckets out ,and then you can just pull the shims off the valves with your fingers if they haven't stuck to the underside of the bucket.
No special tool required.

Rather than using a magnet to withdraw the bucket another possibility might be a valve lapping tool that has a suction cup on the end. I am just leary about potentially magnetizing a critical wear surface -- probably not a common problem granted. |

Yeah that'd work too. Good idea.
Well the magnet I use is telescopic and the head is only about 6mm wide. No probs so far.
