Good gloves make a huge difference! Besides washing, another good thing to do is to let them air out (in the shade in the house) between games. Getting the gloves dry, especially in the summer, will help them last (and help prevent rashes).
Based on my use of Fingersavers over the last four years and medium priced gloves before, I think the Fingersavers (or any top line glove) are worth the money for both performance and wear.
