I appreciate your comments. I have heard most of them before with regard to coaches wanting to talk to the reff before the game. IAW the FIFA LOTG coaches dont even exist during the pregame.
The implication of the "I wont accept foul play speech" is that the referees that dont say that will???????? As a coach you should not allow foul play by your team regardless what the reff says.
The first sign of an inexperienced referee is the long pregame. The higher level the game the shorter the pregame. i.e. U16 and above my pregame is: "Good afternoon, I believe we are playing 2 45 minute halfs, who will call the toss?" Anymore then that is unprofessional and shows inexperience.
Most of those with experience with competative soccer will agree there is nothing to gain 90% or the time and almost always much to lose.
I wont restate my previous post and I apoligize if I sounded demeaning. Coaches sometimes take acception to the idea that referees need not respond to them at all according to the laws. This is not meant out of disrespect by is only a statement of fact.
The best way to deal with the out of control screamers is first for the parents to take some responsibilty for the kind of conduct they are allowing their children to see and learn from. As a referee my responsibilty is to send off anyone who brings the game into disrepute. I havent had to do it often as I find most screamers are cowards and will back down when cautioned. But it needs to be done.
Again as a previous coach I respect your job and understand it is as much a part of the game as mine(we are both subordinate to the players role). It is however not appropriate to view the coach outside of the role outlined in the LOTG.
Finally your seriousness, professionalism about this game convinces me that you would make a great referee. It takes all kinds of personalities and traits, the most important is the hunger to do a good job. Hope you join the ranks of the referees.
