Re: Good question - why push to ball carrier to middle?

This aspect of soccer is really where theories of play contradict themselves. Offenses are taught to play the ball wide towards the end line to set up the cross where multiple offensive players will be there in an on-side position to finish. Defensive players are taught to force play to the outside, away from the mouth of the goal. Interesting?
