First of all, as far as the position of the NSCAA is concerned, the first thing is to understand who the NSCAA really is. If you are a member of the NSCAA than YOU are the NSCAA. I was teaching at a beginning level NSCAA course this past weekend with the president of the NSCAA and one of the things he reminded all of the coaching candidates was that he started out just like them and that they are just as representative of the organization as was he. In other words, the NSCAA's opinion is merely the opinions that it's members have. Please do NOT trust these decisions to the so called "higher ups" in the various organizations. You people are the ones out their coaching. You people are the ones who are influencing the youth of America. Don't assume that just because a person is an administrator in a large organization that they know what is going on in the soccer community. You people are the ones who are the soccer community.
I do believe that in terms of player develoment the US is doing much better. However, we still have a long ways to go to catch up.
As far as whether I believe that their should be tournaments or jamborees for the U10 crowd and younger, the answer is...I really don't know. The reason I don't know is that I don't coach these ages so am not with them on a regular basis. My gut feeling is that I'm not sure that tournaments are right for the younger ages not because the kids can't handle the pressure or anything like that but rather, because the so called coaches lose priorites and start emphasizing winning over development (and I do NOT consider the two to be mutually exclusive)
If someone would like to create some survey questions I am more than will willing to make this a new survey for next week. If anyone chooses to do this, please realize both the questions and anwers have tbe short
