Jessica,
Grades come 1st.
Followed by you deciding what level of collage soccer you wish to play.
Div. 1, 2 or 3 all have different requirements. Grades are the common requirement for all three. As a student athlete managing this part of your schedule will require that you are preparing now for this.
I would advise you to play at the highest level you can now. I'm sure your playing in High School. You should also be involved in a club that provides training and playing time outside of the high school season. This club at the U16 and above age group level should have access to higher-level training and competition as well as being able to make contacts for you in the collage soccer community. Staten ODP tryout's are another way to gauge your level of play. You know the old saying "nothing ventured nothing gained" if you never try it how do you know you won't like it.
I would also advise you to focus specific time to your fitness level year round. Speed, Cardio & Strength training. If you are recruited or do a walk on with a collage in two years your fitness level will be challenged immediately. Never leave fitness for granted. Lack of fitness leads to injury, in which case you could get side tracked for up to a year on your soccer goals.
Playing soccer in collage is a wonderful goal. Planning now is the correct way to go. I could go on and on with suggestions and ideas. If it's in your heart you will realize your goal provided you put in the training now. Now you prepare for what lies ahead and believe me more and more player such as yourself are asking these same questions.
One final note, after you have decide what level you want to play at is to be sure you have this discussion with your club Coach. Be sure that they are aware of your goals and they should be aliened with you in helping to achieve your dream. Many Club coaches run pre-collage training sessions for players going onto collage during the summer leading up to collage pre-season. This allows you to go into collage preseason camp at your highest fitness & skill level.
Reach you Dreams
