intramural program

I have an idea that I would like to do with our club and would like any possible feedback. In our town we have a travel club and an AYSO program. We start tryouts and selection for the club at the U-12 level. We are considering adding a U-10 level.

The problem we face is that the talent pool coming from the AYSO program is not very strong. Many of the children do not get very good coaching.

What I would like to do is start an intramural program through our club. I am thinking of two different age groups (5-6 years old and 7-8 years old). The program would be more of a weekly clinic done on Saturday afternoons. For 20-30 minutes the players would do different dribbling, agility, skill drills, and then they would play 3v3 (5-6 year olds) and 4v4 (7-8 year olds). I am pretty sure that if we were an intramural program we would be covered by insurance through our Club

I have thought about trying to work closer with the AYSO program, but there is some kind of rift between the two programs. I don't know how it started, but it has been tough to bring everyone together. I don't want the players to quit AYSO. I want this to be in conjunction with them.

If anybody has any thoughts or ideas concerning this program or ideas for games and activities, they would be greatly appreciated.
