I currently coach a U6B team, but have seen other levels do the same thing. What is your thinking about purposely kicking the ball out of bounds simply because the team was going to loose control, either offensively or defensively, of the ball?
The last three games we've played this has happened a lot. In addition, there was positive coaching from the sideline to do this.
I realize that in certain situations, kicking over the touchline or goaline is called for, but I'm not referring to those situations in my question.
It seems to me that unless a goal is imminent, the ball should be played.
