The main difference is that in Portugal soccer is the real sport. We dont have baseball or american football, and in our basketball the best players are the americans who doesn't fit in your country.
In POrtugal,when a young kid wants to learn and practice a sport he normally choose soccer, so we have a lot of options.
But you have better conditions to work in soccer than most of the better clubs in Portugal. Normally i dont train on the grass, but in sand, and few clubs have one ball for each player, i usually have one ball to two players.
In my idea, your big problem is the transition of the players of the universities and colleges to a pro level, cause they dont have contracts, and european clubs go there and pick for free.
