What are the criteria for fanfiction ratings (i.e. G, PG, PG-13, R, etc.)?

To forewarn your readers of certain types of content for your fiction, we request that you rate your fiction according to the following criteria and note that criteria in your subject line.

(i.e. "Someday" Chapter Nine, Rated R)

The criteria are:

G--Well, general audience...fluffy bunnies and cuddly kittens. We doubt any fics will get this rating, after all, we are writing about a SOAP OPERA.

PG--parental guidence, if your fic has nothing remotely objectionable, then it's probably PG. No need to note this rating in your subject line.

PG-13--Profanity, light to moderate violence, adult topics (i.e. miscarriage, desire, etc...rule out according to the "heavier" ratings below)

R--Moderate to heavy violence (including rape), adult situations described, Sex "referred to" or implied, Adult content (including description of nudity not involving sex)

NC-17--If your fic describes acts of any kind of sex in any kind of detail, THIS is the rating for you.

X--Vulgar descriptions of sex that cheapens the act, including violence during sex, vulgar dialogue during sex, etc.
We do NOT allow fics of this nature to be posted on the board.
