Hi,

Very interesting message, and I admire your grasp of the tech stuff. You're good under the hood of a car or a computer.

Cox Cable has been tearing through our mobile home park for the last few weeks, burying thick black cables. This scared the poo out of me because our home's power cables are two inches under ground and the last time someone buried anything on our lot (the phone company was burying a new phone line I had installed) they cut our power cables. There are three cables as I was forced to learn, two hot wires and one ground, and when the mobile home park had them spliced they somehow managed to splice them incorrectly with the result that half our mobile home had normal current and half had 220 volts coming out of the wall sockets. When they first turned on the juice there were people RUNNING inside our house--I think I was two of them. Of course this happened in the middle of summer, so first we were sweating, waiting for the cables to be spliced, then after the smoke cleared inside the house we had to wait again until they were fixed.

Sorry for the digression, anyway Cox Cable managed to run their new cables without causing any damage (I supervised them closely). I wonder if these new cables could be connected to a server in our house and give us decent speed? I don't know what kind of service is represented by the new cables.

Your message made me rethink a lot of things and I'm going to take your data into the process of making a decision about changing our hosting. I'm ready to pay a stranger to upgrade our hosting but I'd prefer to pay a friend....

Thanks very much for your message!

Best,

- Boyd
