Moving to a new location is always exciting until you begin reaching for the stuff which has accumulated in the far, back, dark, recessed corners of you cabinetry! Face it. Packing sucks.
Lately I have had three choices :
1) Hit the outdoors while it's still BEAUTIFUL.
2) Wrap, pack, box and stack.
3) Check some of my favorite info sites and forums.
Then there is the one which constantly floats over my head... Procrastination! LOL So here I am relaying a byte of info for you I've uncovered this morning...
Who is on the Internet???
This is derived from reports by the US Department of Commerce. Apparently only 54%, or 143 million people, are on the Internet as of September 2001. 90% of the kids between 5-17 are online at both home and school (47.4 million).
62.2% of the houses with kids under 18 are able to access the Internet In the homes without children, only 53.2% of them were accessing the Internet.
Overall, the main users of the Internet
are the young. There are many opportunities and niche markets which are being exploited, to gain access to this young market, and break into their piggy banks. Today's kids control an unbelivable amount of buying power! And they are more apt to spend impulsively than their Boomer parents!
Baby Boomers are getting to the point of nutrition, hair retention, tooth whitening and joint regeneration. (And I don't mean Blunts and Doobies!)

They are also watching their stock portfolios decline daily, tightening their grip on what is left.
The young are high-tech and are despising the corporate world of the Boomers. A 22 year old local here has eschewed his parents advice, built a business and recently sold it for $125,000 in less than 6 months! Hint: It was a gift basket business and he didn't operate it!
Niche markets are great, and working in your area of interest makes sense too. But just like Danny DeVito once said in the movie "Other People's Money"... And I paraphrase in my best DeVito voice...
"You may be making the best darned buggy whips in the business today. But who are you going to sell them to???"
Well... Back to packing for my move....
Success and Regards... Mike
