As you know, I do everything as professional as possible but for the least possible cost. I get the restaurants to give me a menu, which they have marked up with just the items they want to promote. Generally this is a large percentage of the selections they offer.
I then create a reproduction of the menu, but obviously on a smaller scale. If you are not familiar with fold-over business cards, imagine two business cards side-by-side length ways attached together. This gives you four panels for the menu. One side has both the front and back panels, while the other side has the 2 menu panels. The mini-menus are printed so you read the down the length. The mini-menus are folded at the score. The print on the mini-menus is small, but clear enough for most people to read. I initially print 2,000 for each restaurant.
If you visit most office or business supply stores you will see various business card holders which can display a large number of different business cards. When I started I used these as the racks, but after I got going and knew it would fly, I got a local plastic manufacturer to create specialty stands for me which could hold 50 different cards. These stands have room for a billboard above the cards promoting the concept and listing the names of local restaurants. Sorry I don’t have a photo or graphic to share.
