Universal Health Plan in Oregon - Good or Bad???

Oregon may pass a measure (Measure 23) in their November 5th ballot measure to provide Universal Healthcare to it's citizens.

It would have full benefits, no co-payments and no deductibles to include - ACCUPUNCTURE and MASSAGE!

This, at an estimated cost of $19,000,000,000.00 a year (Nineteen BILLION dollars!). With 7 Billion dollars coming from payroll taxes and 4.9 Billion dollars coming from increased taxes to fund this program!

This would hit the businesses with an increase of 11.5% in payroll taxes and an increase on personal taxes as high as 17%!

How much weight should one shoulder to provide for the others???

Will there come a time where we would be better provided for - by NOT working - or striving to continually achieve higher results!?!?!

Personally, my two daughters do not qualify for college assistance because we earn too much. Furthermore I do not have the capability to write a check for their college education.

Forunately they are both on volleyball scholarships and academic scholarships. But what about those families who fall in the middle??? The "Middle" and "Upper-middle Class"???

When will the legislature suddenly decide to "Tax the Internet" to provide for others???
Certainly there are those who feel we should provide for those less fortunate. It is those who abuse the system which infuriate me when I pay my quarterlies.

You can read the article here.

Success and Regards... Mike
