I tested Bill Myers idea from here in Sydney about a year ago.
Here's what I found:
Most real estate agents no longer produce glossy brochures. They all advertise in the weekly local newspapers or in inserts in the weekend newspapers. This means if you are promising up-to-date information you have to get hold of these papers every week. You can't send inserts dated a month ago. You have to buy most of the newspapers also
I charged $US75 for a 2Kg parcel of info from Sydney. Postage costs were $US20 and marketing costs were pretty steep. I had adverts in International Living and looked at some smaller newsletters.
I had a one page web site and took payments through Revecom.
If you market this off-line, you'll need a 1800 number in the US and Europe to take orders. This would kill the concept in my opinion.
Collecting the newspapers, removing the real estate inserts, packing and posting was very labour intensive.
I found the whole idea marginal at best.
But the thing that finally stopped me was the fact that almost everyone who ordered was dreaming of retiring to Australia. And the fact was that none of them would have any chance of complying with Australian requirements for immigration.
I felt I was trading on impossible dreams, and I didn't much like it.
