Mike,
The Internet has primarily been a method of delivering 'text' (html, pdf, doc, etc) based information ...mostly due to bandwidth restrictions. Those who have high bandwidth connections are enjoying streaming video, etc... but there are still a lot of people who have 28.8 and 56k modems.
But sound, video and 'live' broadcasts are going to increase exponentially in digital information delivery.
The reason is really 2-fold: Larger pipes (connections) to the Internet and new compression and streaming technologies.
So you have larger bandwidth on one end and smaller files on the other... add faster processors and larger hard drives in new computers and wow!
The digital delivery of sound, video, broadcast, etc information product will EXPLODE in the next 5 years.
Anyone interested in creating a business with information products would be well advised to keep abreast of the new technology and tools available for creating multimedia digital products for online delivery.
One recent development is screen capture technology. The leader in that area has been Camtasia from www.techsmith.com. They recently added the ability to convert avi files (excellent quality, but HUGE!) to Flash *.swf files (very good quality, but small!).
For those fortunate enough to buy Camtasia when it was $149... they got a free upgrade to Camtasia Studio with (Flash capabilities). Last time I checked TechSmith rasied the price to $249 (and it's on sale- reg price they say will be $349). It's still a bargain... they have practically NO competition in the area of screen capture technology.
Thanks for your email and thanks for pointing me to Live365... a great resource!
Best wishes,
