Years ago when I first hung out my shingle as a web developer I offered to build a few sites for free. This was a way to build a portfolio. Two years after, someone I offered a free website to, came back to me and said "OK I am ready." The sad fact was, I wasn't. I wasn't building free websites two years later.
So it is very important to make sure you limit your offer by a specific date.
What if...
When you were meeting people and handing out your business card you hand wrote a personal discount offer with an expire date on the back?
It's pretty hard to remember everyone you hand a business card to, but if someone redeems it within the correct time frame, you can certainly recognize your own handwriting.
Thoughts?
