What's Your Passion or Should I Say.........

Hello my friends,

We are soon approaching a new year! For most of us, it's an opportunity to refocus and truly start building a viable homebased business.

I'm only guessing that most people who frequent this board have tried everything under the sun from e-books to network marketing. Maybe you've been successful..... then again, maybe not.

What's your drive? What are you truly passionate about? What are you good at? I think these are the questions we should ask ourselves before starting the new year. It's time to evaluate where we are draining our energy and concentrate on what's profitable.

I'll go first, and hopefully others will participate in this thread.

Here is my track record for the year:

Most of you know that I'm basically an offline entrepreneur who is dabbling with a few internet concepts.

My main thing is insurance and newspapers. It's a great combination because my own newspaper gives me a direct link to the community that I sell insurance to.

I also have http://www.gazam.com and http://www.teddybuddies.com that I've been toying with.

The gazam site started out as a local e-mail business which targeted small businesses for low-cost advertising.

Originally I thought it was a great combination because I was already in advertsiing. Boy was I wrong! I made a few big sales but I learned that traditional businesses would rather see their ad in print rather than e-mail (atleast small businesses). I think it's because they can actually see newpapers around the city as opposed to believing thousands of e-mails are being delivered.

I also experienced problems sending out e-mails after I collected over 1,000 e-mails (especially with AOL).

I have now decided to discontinue that project and focus on a new venture using the same cool name (gazam.com).

Teddie Buddies has really good potential. It's a make your own teddy bear business directed towards at home moms. Although it has slowed down since the holidays, I expect things to continue on schedule for the new year. Currently, I'm looking for someone to handle the operations of the business for me.

And that's my point....... I'm goiung to focus on what I'm good at.

Newspapers and Insurance!

Newspapers:

My goal is to expand my newspaper throughout the state. It's a "good news" newspaper.

Insurance:

My goal is to expand our agency practice to other financial services such as debt management and mortgages.

What have you been doing this year? What's your focus for the new year?

I look forward to reading the responses. Remember, in order to learn, you must participate.
