Business ideas and the shotgun approach to them can be a good way to generate the creative juices. But then again - it is still a 'shotgun' approach. If your desk is like mine I'm certain everyone here has at least half a dozen or more ideas they could implement. The problem remains in implementing them.
Right now I have two web sites in differing stages of development. A software product at approximately 90% completion. Another software product on the design board. Still yet another Palm Pilot program in prototype on my Handspring designed for insurance producers. Two e-Books in the final phase. An eZine. And a forum among other projects of my own.
In the mean time I have assisted 4 others in the Think Tank arena in developing there own product and a revenue generating advertising small home business.
On top of that I am in the process of expanding the current insurance agency I am now a part of. Specifically targeting the medical malpractice and professional liability coverage's of physical therapist, cardio therapy, massage therapists and rehabilitation professionals in general.
I'm collecting testimonials from current clientele and designing graphics, web copy, site design, autoresponders, and special reports among other things.
Whew....
Biz Ideas aren't the problem for most people. Most people already have an inkling of what they want to do. It is 'doing it' which is the problem.
So I would say... Allow someone to specifically define the market they want to be a part of. Define it in a way to uncover a need of theirs. Not the 'need' of ours -
making money. Money
will follow if you do your homework first.
So let's begin there. Not bassackwards. An idea is only an idea without foundation. Find yourself a foundation first then capitalize upon it.
My current foundation is the professional rehabilitation market. They have wants and needs. I've uncovered them. I've found a solution. Now I am designing a way to grab their attention without a lot of expense being involved.
This is the way to do it. Never once did I say to myself I want to sell professional liability and med-mal policies then go looking for a market. I found a market with a need first then capitalized upon it.
Now... Who has an idea for a target market they have already defined?
Success and Regards... Mike
