| The key to big money: It's gotta be yoursFebruary 26 2003 at 4:47 PM | Terry Ottavio | |
| This post contains the REAL secret to making a lot of money working for yourself:
It's comical to read about the endless "business opportunities" that tell you to sell their products and "work for yourself". I sometimes wonder how many people realize that joining these business opportunities is no different than working for a company in corporate America. The only difference is that you don't get a base salary or Medical benefits when you sell the products of a biz.opp. company. Sure, you get to work from home. Sure you get to choose your own hours, but if you don't choose to work enough hours, you're in financial trouble.
The secret to making substantial income lies in really starting your own company. Not paying for a business opportunity and calling it your own business while you're really just selling someone else's stuff.
You have to be the absolute source of the product. Forget about distributorships or business opportunities. THINK ORIGIN. The product must originate with you and you alone to make the big money. The steps are tedious to start this type of endeavor but it's really pretty simple:
1.) ESTABLISH YOUR BUSINESS ENTITY (INCORPORATE, LLC, ETC.)
2.) CREATE YOUR PRODUCT
3.) PROTECT YOUR PRODUCT VIA PATENTS, TRADEMARKS, COPYRIGHTS, ETC.
4.) MANUFACTURE YOUR PRODUCT
5.) MARKET/SELL YOUR PRODUCT
6.) EXPAND YOUR ENTERPRISE
In many cases, this can be done for less than the cost of some of the business opportunities out there. To think that it's too much work to go this route and that it'd be easier to settle for selling someone else's stuff is the wrong way to think. That is, ultimately you'll have to do much more work trying to sell other people's stuff. You'll have to deal with all of these overwhelming things:
-competing against the company's other distributors
-hoping that the people you try to sell your stuff to don't just buy from the company directly (especially if you're selling to businesses)
-explaining to your customer why they're making a check out to your company when they're buying a product with your supplier's name on it
You get the picture. It's not worth the day-to-day hassles. It's much better to deal with the initial headaches of creating your own company up front and then being the source of the supply.
And I'm not referring to creating an "e-product". You have to be able to create something solid and tangible that's difficult for others to duplicate. That is, you want to make it easier for them to come to you instead of creating their own similar product.
Some of you will read this and not think much about it. Hopefully, others will reailze that this is the true way to really make a lot of money in your own real business. | |
