Selling locally?

Response to What are your favorite marketing sites/methods? (theres a catch)

If you're selling computers in your local area, the one thing that is the most important is the ability to sell and close the deal. Rather then an interest in wide spread marketing sites, I would concentrate more on sales ability, because you need to talk to people.

Mike Rodman's "Crash course marketing," and Roy Preece's newsletter from adsalespeople.com are great examples of information that will teach you how to approach people and close more deals. I used to do a lot of direct selling years ago, and from someone who has been there, I can tell you it would have been great to have this information before I started.

Once you have learned how to generate the cash, then you need to find some inexpensive way to get the word out. Check out the newsletter Joan Stewart publishes from her website the publicityhound.com.

That's it! Don't bury yourself in a ton of marketing information, courses, manuals, eBooks and other stuff you don't need or you'll find yourself and your business sitting on the sidelines thinking about it rather then doing it.

Best Regards,
Steve MacLellan
