Getting Grounded With Internet Basics

This isn't a huge problem by any means, and the different people do show desire, ambition and a longing for something better in their lives. I'm referring to those whom want to launch a web based Internet Business but, are not aware of how to operate their PC's. Or how to download and open a file properly.

In any business - as in any endeavor - knowledge of the "Basics" are a necessary tool. You may have all the intent to accomplish the dream, goals and desires you've set for yourself. A desire to create an extra hundred dollars of income a month. Maybe a few hundred dollars extra. Quite a few have the goal of creating a fulltime income and leaving a dead-end job or a job they do not care for.

There is, in my mind, an ever increasing number of people logging on to the Internet looking for ways to open a business. Subscribing to every e-zine they can find and filtering out the chaff. What is troubling is that 1) Repetitive emails querying 'How to make money online' 2) Not willing to do some of the work themselves 3) Expecting others to do it for them 4) And not having the basic knowledge of simply downloading and opening a file.

Now granted everyone has a learning curve and some things are easier for some than for others. But how in the world do some people actually expect another person to basically set up and operate a system for them?

Learn the basics of operating your PC. Learn the basics of a business. Just for the fact you're online, does not mean you have no need for business acumen. It is still a business. Treat it as such. The fact it is low cost seems to drive this attitude of "Oh, I'll try it for a bit and if it doesn't work it doesn't work" will only allow you to fail each and every time.

Then the fact the overwhelming amount of email from individuals like this takes up an inordinate amount of time. Time better spent operating our own web sites and offline endeavors.

This little rant also opens up the mind to whether there is a real need for a simple 'Back To Business' Internet Basics info-product. A grounding in the foundations if you will. Possibly a point and click interface of FAQ's. A simple $5-$10 PDF file, or e-Book crammed with some very basic information on Adobe, IE, FrontPage, HTML or CoffeeCup. I've had emails even asking how to open an attachment I've emailed to them!

How do I know who'll be a success? They email maybe once or twice. All they need is a push and they take it from there. Type A players.

So if you're interested in running a business - which is exactly what being online is - then get grounded in some basics. Or if you feel you're the budding, future next highly successful copy writer, then hire someone to take care of some of the basics and do what you do best.

Success and Regards... Mike
