I enjoy reading the posts in here, and it seems like alot of people have really good ideas, some even make good money doing what they are doing, but I am struggling with myself to do something that makes a profit, other than my regular job, which I would like to say goodbye to.
Anyhow, reason I am posting, is because I read in here somewhere about a year ago, someone had an idea about doing a Dry-Eraser board and placing advertisements on it. I think even Don Alm perhaps had done something like this, so, please, Don, if yer out there, chime in.
Here's my idea-any help, comments appreciated- Doing a Dry eraser board, with magnets for persons refrigerators, that could be given away for free!!! The income would be from the advertisers. My idea would be to Give this thing away to residents in a locality. There are so many suburbs around here, that the idea has multiple areas it may work in. Perhaps putting 15 adverts on it, and charging the advertiser about .20c a board ( i read they could be purchased for around $1, but I'm not sure if that includes printing. If the person who sells these things for Bassco, or K&B knows, please e-mail me. ANyhow, if your were to put 15 x .20 = $30,000-$10,000 = $20,000 gross prifit from 10,000 of these things. My idea would be to tell business that we would give them a certqain number to give to thier customers, and the rest would be distributed to residents in thier area to put on thier refigerator, and always have thier number there, handy, and stairing at them in the face, every day, as opposed to mailings, and even the yellow pages, which noone sees till they look.
Here in lay the problems...For a lot of 10,000 of these, it would cost one $10,000. Fine, if the business payed up-front, but would they really be willing to pay for this prior to product being made. Second, What would be good business to target for these. Food places, ok, but anything else? Oil change places, and others? Perhaps targeting business that already advertise in the mailings i get each month? Also, a good presentation would be needed, to sell these to them, and I'm not sure where to come up with any statistics, if there even are any.
Well, I apologize for being so long winded, but, thanx if u read this, and any input/ideas would be appreciated.
