I received one of these in the mail when we moved in. It was bundled with special offers and "freebies" from the advertisers. For example, Dunkin Donuts bought a spot and the page of offers they included was for "free dozen donuts". I thought it was a great idea for new residents. If they could get you into their store once, you may become a regular customer. Although we use the marker board, I have only called one advertiser. A day care center who offered a free week for new "students". By the way, there are 20 spots on the board, 19 advertisers, 1 spot for police, fire, and poison phone numbers and an area equal to about 2 spots which had the town name and zip. Anyways, although i don't know how much they charged, i'm sure the company that put it all together didn't do it for nothing.
P.S. A selling point is that you have an exclusive spot for your particular business. Only 1 day care center, only one coffee shop, only one oil company...you get the idea. |
