I've just finished reading issue #2 cover to cover. Like all your other readers I am thrilled by the articles. Issue #1 was excellent, and this one manages to improve on it. The articles seemed to go on forever. The photography superb. Simply an incredible achievement. I did however sometimes have to guess at which photo went with which part of the article description. I would suggest that the photos be numbered and then they could be referred to by number in the text. Ex: "Then I applied the wash" (photo 3) with the appropriate photo labeled #3.
I have two questions for David about his excellent panzer IV A. Was the pivoting MG mount meant to be used by accompanying ground troops? Also, what is "hanging basket liner"? I like the way it looks and would like to try it, but am unsure of what it is.

Looking forward to #3

Thanks Ian

Thanks Ian, in answer to your questions, the MG mount I have a vague recollection of being used by the crew whilst on the vehicle, although it looks like a completely unfeasable contraption and this is no doubt why it was swiftly dropped.

Hanging basket liners are a sizal matting or sometimes loose sizal mix used to line flower baskets to trap moisture they are sold in garden centres and DIY stores in the UK usually around spring time.

I hope that helps

David

MG Mount

February 18 2002, 1:07 PM

Hi Ian,

The AA MG mount could be used only when the tank was standing still. The crew using the MG was standing on the ground beside the tank.

Regards,

Jari
