Dear all, particularly my colleagues here in the UK, I would dearly appreciate some advice on what compressor to purchase. It would have to be suitable for a Tamiya Superfine airbrush, it would get regular usage and my budget is around £200. Can anybody give me some advice on what would be a good make/model please? What compressors are y'all using? I've looked at so many I've gone all gogle eyed and can't think straight anymore! Your help is greatly appreciated.

BTW Dave & Don, keep up the excellent work and best of luck for the future.

Cheers

Matt

Compressor

I bought a compressor via Ripmax 2 or 3 years ago. It has a tank and moisture trap and runs my Aztek A470 and old Humbrol Hobbicraft airbrushes just fine. I paid around £150 for it.

Best Wishes,
Paul

Compressor suggestion.

Hi Matt,
I hope this info is still relevant, as your post is now a few days old.
I have recently bought an Iwata Smart Jet compressor and HP-BS airbrush. I've only played around with it so far as I've nothing finished to paint at the moment.
First impressions are amazing! It's quiet, has a moisture trap and pressure adjustment, best of all it has an auto cut out switch. As soon as you stop spraying the pressure is topped up and the compressor shuts off. I bought mine from the 'airbrush co.', very helpful and should fit into your budget. They are online at <www.airbrushes.com>
Cheers,

Darren.

Iwata compressor

I did the same thing as Darren and bought the Iwata SmartJet. It's quiet, has an air pressure gauge, moisture trap, auto cut-off, a simple holder for the airbrush (I use a Tamiya HG 93F). The holder can also be mounted on the desktop instead of the compresssor itself. I have been using this for about a year now and am very happy (had an old passache for years).

In fact, I just finished blowing some olive drab on a Tamiya Sherman before getting online.
