Over recent years and with lots of encouragement from my lovely wife, I have been getting back into AFV modelling. Your magazine has been a huge source of inspiration - many thanks.

So much so infact, that my wife recently purchased the Tamiya 1:16 Tiger 1 for me (hence 'lovely' reference!).
I subsequently purchased the Aber detail kit for it.

Yeah Gods and small fishes! Have I bitten off more than I can chew? It is one hell of a kit and will definitley put me to the test. One small problem I have had is in locating a bending tool as mentioned in the Aber instruction book. Does any one where these can be obtained at reasonable cost or will I have to just make one.

Any help re. the above would be great.

Mnay thanks.

Sam.

Hi Sam,

first off, good luck with your venture, having seen the extent of the Aber set I would certainly have second and third thoughts about tackling it. Dave is mental however and is trying to find time to get this madness underway. There is a tool available, called the Hold and Fold, which holds and errr... folds the piece you need to hold and...fold.

some info here: http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/thread?forumid=95064&messageid=1015905750

Let us know how you get on,

Cheers

Don

Dear Don,

Thank you very much for your message. I found the website at Mission Models and the various bending tools there in. The Hold & Fold seems most excellent and a definate must for PE parts.

I have not been able to locate a supplier here in the UK yet, any ideas? Otherwise I shall order one from the States. Time is not a huge problem.

Again, thanks for your help.

Regards,

Sam.

Hold & Fold

March 26 2002, 11:21 PM

I recently bought a Hold & Fold for exactly the same reason as you - the Aber 1/16 set. I bought it direct from the US manufacturer Pete Forrest at www.thesmallshop.com. The tool is fantastic and well worth the money.

Regards,
Paul
