It was reported in 16 Magazine (Bev has the article and has quoted from it in a message, but probably on the old IAIS Board, where messages weren't saved very long) that around 1967, Neil went to England and was invited to Paul McCartney's country home. Presumably, Paul was there, too, so Neil got to meet him.
Neil and Ringo flew to "The Last Waltz" together in a Lear Jet, as reported by Rolling Stone in their coverage of the event shortly after it happened on Thanksgiving Day, 1976. Ringo was part of the performance of Bob Dylan's song "I Shall Be Released" in the finale, which Neil was also part of.
It's nice that Neil has gotten to meet the two Beatles who are still alive today, and maybe he'll have a chance to see them again in the future. I don't know if he ever got to meet George Harrison. But I heard him interviewed by radio station WPGC in Washington, DC, on January 29, 1981, not long after John Lennon's death, and he was asked if he had ever met John. Unfortunately, he never did, even though John lived for several years in New York, where Neil must have made lots of visits during that time period. | |
