Ron Tutt/Dennis St. John

To me Ron Tutt is more of a time keeper than anything else - he doesn't have the licks that Dennis St. John had. I am always comparing Tutt to Dennis St. John, and while I think Tutt is a "tight" drummer" (his job wouldn't last long as the heartbeat of the group if he wasn't tight), I think ultimately Dennis St. John was the better of the two - Just listen to Dennis's drums on Crunchy Granola Suite from Hot August Night, and then compare that to Tutt's work on the same song on Live in America...
