Agreed. I just don't understand why a simple concept doesn't sink in.September 21 2002 at 8:27 PM

Shirley, I know EXACTLY how you feel. I just don't understand the desperate NEED that some people feel to bring any off-topic subject here. As if there was no concept of E-MAIL? As if there was no concept of newsgroups or message boards that specialized in OTHER TOPICS? Race car fans can easily find forums about car racing. IAIS does not HAVE to be THE one and only place on the Internet to talk about car racing or whatever. Same with "Survivor". I love that show, but I'm not gonna post about "who gets the boot and why" and "Survivor strategizing" over here.
Seems to me that some people don't want to expend the effort to do an outreach and FIND other people and MAKE NEW FRIENDS among people with these other, non-Neil interests. I don't understand why a person's social life must revolve around IAIS, and IAIS only. I thought the concept was obvious... IAIS for Neil, alt.music.yes for Yes, Crayfish Corner for crayfish discussions, LUGNET for LEGO, theonering.net for "Lord of tthe Rings", "True Dork Times" and alt.tv.survivor for Survivor... it seems so obvious to me- different forums for my other interests. It doesn't bother me at all that no one from IAIS is on alt.music.yes with me to talk about the latest Yes tour. If I want to talk with Yes fans, it makes perfect sense to make some friends among Yes fans!
