Okay, I understand everything about the piston exhaust valve system and I'm almost ready to begin construction, but I just can't understand why the air wouldn't leak through the space between the piston and the chamber after it leave the mouth of barrel. Wouldn't it just go through the spaces and out the firing valve. Should the neoprene diaphragm be bigger than the piston to seal this space. Also, is it necessary for the piston to have an airtight seal against the bumper.
