PLEASE READ- New Salary structure proposal

Okay, as I've already said, I LOVE the idea of the very objective SALARY CALCULATION to generate a TEAM QUALITY stat! However, I agree with Artur, that HLS2 (what's new?) *smile* doesn't do the best job evaluating a players worth.

So....

I propose what Artur has already suggested: use a NEW formula to calculate SALARIES, that Artur can use on his EXTENDED STATS page, to set TEAM QUALITY.

But seeing how we all consider DIFFERENT aspects of a players ratings with DIFFERENT importance, I suggest that the 1st thing done is that all GM's willing to participate send in a list of Player Qualities, ranked from 1 to 11 (or 1 to 9 for Goalies) in order of which catagory they feel is MOST important in judging their players OVERALL QUALITY ( 1 being LEAST IMPORTANT - 11 (or 9) being MOST IMPORTANT ). Of course, this list would be different between defencemen and forwards.

We would then average out all the respondants ratings, and develop a salary structure, ranking each rating with a higher or lower degree of influence in the final SALARY of the player.

Example:

Each team submit a list as such:

Forwards:

....Moondogs....Softnoses....Reptiles.... Average
Ag 4 7 2 4.33
Qk 9 3 11 7.66
Pw 3 6 3 4.00
Fa 2 4 6 4.00
In 1 5 4 3.33
Pn 5 1 5 3.66
Sk 6 2 10 6.00
Pa 10 9 8 9.00
PC 8 11 7 8.66
Ck 7 8 1 5.33
Sh 11 10 9 10.00

This is done for Forwards / Defencemen / Goalies

(if we wanted to get sticky, we could even seperate ranking each FORWARD position - RW/C/LW seperately, as you may want to evaluate a C-man with a higher Pa Rating than a Winger, etc., but I don't think it's worth it, considering most teams play players out of position anyways - up to concensus???)

We would then take these resulting AVERAGES, and use them as the MULTIPLYING FACTORS in the SALARY CALCULATIONS, as such (using above example):

Player - Paul "Slapshot" Newman - RW

Ratings x Factor
Ag 7 4.33 = 30.31
Qk 8 7.66 = 61.28
Pw 8 4.00 = 32.00
Fa 7 4.00 = 28.00
In 5 3.33 = 16.65
Pn 3 3.66 = 10.98
Sk 8 6.00 = 48.00
Pa 6 9.00 = 54.00
PC 7 8.66 = 60.62
Ck 6 5.33 = 31.98
Sh 8 10.00 = 80.00
Ttl 73 453.82

Note: No 'BASE' Salary would be needed on the OVERALL Ttl of the player, as ALL ratings are being factored into the SALARY TOTAL.

Multiply the TOTAL by 100, and you have the player's SALARY !!!:

453.82 x 100 = $453,820

This takes into account ALL factors of the players ratings, but they are WEIGHTED according to what we as GM's feel are the more important catagories (PRIME OFFENSIVE #'S, for the most part, in the case of forwards).

Don't be scared by the process - the only difficult (and THAT'S not very hard) is getting the GM's to RANK their player position QUALITY ratings. Once those are sent in, I'll do the averages, then Artur sets a simple calculation on his Stats page. The rest is done automatically!

Well???? I LOVE IT (this is a NON-OBJECTIVE viewpoint, Artur!) *smile*
