As I said, this should have been brought up as soon as the last season ended, that's my fault.
I can understand if it is too soon to make such a change in rules, and would be perfectly willing to wait until next year, if we make the change at all! If there is enough interest to do it right away, however, then I think that is what we should do.
Time for my little spiel on why this may make things more interesting around here. Being a GM where all you need to be concerned about are 5 or 6 players, regardless of their positions is easy. A GM who has to worry about keeping a roster stocked with an appropriate number of players at every position, on the other hand, has a measurably harder job.
Keep in mind that some other things may have to considered as well, such as players having a "permanent" position to start each season. Anyway, that's another story...
I think putting this rule in place will accomplish a few things:
1. It will encourage more trade discussions, as GMs need to fill certain positions more responsibly.
2. By eliminating the double and triple-shifting, a GM won't be able to "load up" certain players in hopes of favorable re-rates.
3. All of the whining about Easton will finally be put to rest, big smile.
