I just wanted to let the NSHL know that I am back running The Lizards franchise. I'd like to thank Terry (AKA "Dax") for covering for me while I was gone. However, as I currently have a MESS of stuff on my plate here in Taiwan, due to unforeseen circumstances, I am still want to let the team sit quietly without much trade action, etc., for a while, until I get some things sorted out over here personally.
Also (and if I might suggest unfortunately) a TON of crap I've received from a VERY FEW GM's in this league over the past 2 1/2 seasons has made me finally say, forget it, as to any active "participation" in the league, re: Demi Moore, The AST, The Chairman's Cup, rules discussions, etc. I really don't need the kind of EXTREMELY rude, disrespectful, harshly vulgar remarks that these GM's have insisted on relating.
If the rest of the GM's want to condone these actions by their silence on the subject, then, I guess I give in and will be silent too. It is too bad that a minority of the LOUDEST and most vulgar GM's in the league have resulted in my resignation from enjoying The NSHL to its fullest potential.
I have only been here to try to have FUN, and ENJOY myself - it's too bad that some GM's have made my experience here far too unenjoyable. I had hoped that active participation was one of the GREAT aspects of a Fantasy League; it has been for me. But it has been outweighed by these certain GM's who insist on vulgarity and defamation both publically & privately to me.
Thanks for your time. I just wanted the League to understand why I was not being heard from anymore - if attitudes change in the future for the better, maybe I will return to a more active roll. I'm sorry to all those MANY GM's who have told me they enjoy my participation, rules suggestions, AST Management, PR's, help in understanding HLS2 (for newcomers), etc. Perhaps if your collective attitudes can come together to finally supress the negative influence certain GM's impose on The NSHL, you may yet see my return to helping make The NSHL otherwise the BEST Fantasy hockey league on the net! Until then, I wish you all the best of luck!
Thank you again, Commissioner Gordon, for your fine management of The NSHL "Bat" Phone.
Regretably,
David Easton

"If the rest of the GM's want to condone these actions by their silence on the subject,..."
The more I think about it David the more I feel that this is a bullshit statement. It shows your arrogance at an incredibly high level to assume that we condone anything just b\c we do not want to be involved.
Anything that you have been subject to you have only brought upon yourself and I for one will no longer defend you in any way, shape, or form.

I couldn't agree more Trevor. David you are
so hard done by. I feel so sorry for you.
Quit your fucking whining. Do you expect the
whole fucking league to email you with an
apology? "I'm sorry David, please start flooding
our mailboxes with useless fucking shit again."
Now, let's all just get along.

And as for the "very few GMs" comment...I seem to recall a LOT of GMs saying nasty things. Must be something in the green tea that affects selective memory. :P

The NSHL8 Power Rankings are more powerful and more rank than ever before.
Want to spew phlem and bile with the best of them? Or at least those who write the Power Rankings? Send me an email at: SunDogs@nshl.com
Knowledge of HTML is useful (read: saves me time) but not mandatory. A cut-n-paste template is available here: http://www.nshl.com/power/pr_template.html
Just rank, rate and rave in the template, sort the teams in your prefered order and email it all back to me. I'll check your spelling, insult your team and post your work on NSHL.com.

Great site. I've been reading up on some of the various leagues -- mostly the WHL, OHL, and QMJHL but if you care you can follow the foreign teams, too.

Sorry it took so long to have the last word but I was busy winning three in a row to start the season. Not bad for the 24th out of 24 in the power rankings. 8*)

I wanted to hook up with Sasktel's high speed

They will by the end of the month, so cableregina can stick it up their dotcom.
I never knew how good I had it in Winnipeg.

I think the NSHL Hall of Fame should be reserved for players and GMs only. Coaches are just names we pull out of thin air and have nothing really to do with the league.
Here is the way I think it shoudl work.
#1: For GMs, any GM with a winning record during his stint in the NSHL and having been in the NSHL for 2 full seasons automatically gets nominated for a vote. This does not mean they automatically get in, just that we have a vote.
#2: For players, any player with 500+ NSHL pts or a 1.25 pts/game ratio automatically gets nominated after being out of the NSHL for 2 NSHL seasons.
#3: For goalies, and goalie with a sptc of .890+ and 100+ games in the NSHL gets automatically nominated after 2 seasons out of the NSHL.
#4: Any player not meeting the automatic criteria will appear on a ballot that will be sent around the NSHL following the official retirement at the end of the NSHL. Each GM places a vote and a player would then be required to get 80% of the votes to get in if he does not meet the auto requirements. A GM can place a vote for nobody to get in. Players on the ballot in this category have 5 opportunities on this ballot to get in and then they will be removed from the ballot. GMs can place up to 5 votes (for different players), on the same ballot or as few as one.
I will volunteer to look after this for the league.

A hall that is tough to get into means a lot more to those that get in.
Sparky Anderson didn't even go inside the HOF in Cooperstown because he didn't think he belonged.
I agree that cartoon characters; however important they are to the day to day running of a team; should not be allowed in the hall nor should ex football OR hockey coaches just because in some "real life " arena did a great job.
This is a long time coming, as everyone who was there will remember the 'Mario' debate. I was on the no to Mario side but was shouted down by people who looked mainly at his NHL feats.
Posted on Mar 2, 2000, 5:15 PM from IP address 24.72.26.27
It would only be fitting that Sparky be placed in the NSHL HOF.
His outstanding contributions to amateur and pro hockey are well known. As well, Snoopy has graced our website for many years. Also, he died recently, which seems to be the most important criteria.

I coach a junior "B" hockey team in Fort Saskatchewan called the South Fort Chevys. Travis
Chorostkowski is one of our better players.
We are just heading into playoffs, we got a first round bye for winning our div, but be sure to check out the website at www.cjhl.org
Thanks. And Go Chevys Go.

Gord, when is the draft? 3 weeks passed buy - you must have been awarded a doctorate degree somewhere by now. Time to play some hockey man
Another question: did anyone have difficulty connecting to IRC servers? I wonder if denyal of service attacks that have infested major sites lately are affecting the IRC servers as well.
Finally, anyone wants to trade? It is boring without any activity. I have Davidsson, Patrick, 9th pick overall, and some camps to trade. Offers are welcome. Looking for earlier picks and more offense.

"There ain't NOBODY getting both Twins in the draft, except the Canucks!"
Of course, you'd have to change Canucks to Lizards, but you should pretty much get the picture! (Of course, I'll be HAPPY to get Drury too, if he's left to me!)

In an attempt to get this topic of the e-mail channel, let me start it here.
I think that there must be some sort of guidelines as to who can be submitted as a candidate into NSHL Hall of Fame (HHF).
If we want HHF to mean something, I think that all candidates must have been in some relation to NSHL as players, coaches, PR figures, etc. They may be recognised for their contribution to NSHL directly and, sometimes, for their contribution to hockey in general.
Given the young history of NSHL, only a few players can brag their direct contribution to the NSHL. A couple that quickly come to mind are Messier and Bourque, for example.
Nevertheless, back to the topic. Tom Loundry - a great guy in real life, I feel sad that he passed away. He has done NOTHING for hockey. He has done nothing extraordinary in NSHL. I don't buy Easton arguments with 6 out of 69 coaches for a minute.
Sometimes, careers are cut short, but that is just life.
1 time coach of the year should not be valid enough reason to be inducted in HHF. Otherwise, HHF is a joke.

However, first the criteria really should be set instead of what there is now:
The generally accepted criteria for entry into the NSHL Hall of Fame are that the nominated player must:
be retired;
have averaged at least one point per game played in the NSHL; and,
anything else that we think of at the time.
As it is now, only players can be nominated into the HOF. I propose the following:
1. We expand the criteria to include GMs. This was a good suggestion by Mr. Tetz.
2. Create a minimum service length such as two full seasons. One season wonders and run aways would be avoided.
3. Enforce a one season waiting period before nomination. This is to ensure that a HOF player doesn't end up returning to play. (a la Guy LaFleur, or was it Mr. Hockey? both?)
What do you think?

Maybe require more than one seconder to call
for a vote. Like you must have five GM's in your
corner before it is brought to the league.
That way the 'idea' will have a snowballs chance
of catching on.
Then we can get back to thinks we all hold so dearly; Beer and hockey and beer.
PS
Beer yes.
Landry no.

Actually, all I want is your photos and maybe (if it's not asking too much) some work on your team pages. Mainly an original logo if you got one and rather use that in place of the hokey (that's hokey, not hockey) one that I scraped off the bottom of the Internet. And yes, it's true, the bottom of the Internet IS wearing crotchless panties.

Now they are really from different "eras" although their shows were broadcast during the same years.
Epstein was one among many cool cast members and some geeks. The Fonz was pretty much the only cool one (and Mrs. Cunningham, of course) surrounded by not-so-cool worshippers.
This is similar to the current debate as to who is the NHL MVP. Is it Joseph or Jagr? For that matter, it probably is Fred Brathwaite.
