I think a wire in what I meant got crossed.
From the DND Release on the Force Mobility Enhancement Project:
"The second phase of the project will be to procure tactical mobility implements for the Leopard 2 tank fleet, including dozer blades, mine ploughs and mine rollers. FME will procure 29 sets of implements, with an option of an additional 30.
Both vehicles and the implements procured under FME are expected to reach Initial Operational Capability by 2011, with Full Operational Capability expected by 2015."
They don't break down how many of each implemet they need. They also do not define what a set is (ie 3x of each is one set...). They also don't say if they are buying this to be split up for a doctrinal or current CF tank sqn organization.
I agree that we won't see any of these fitted to an ARV or AEV. This is for the future and not part of TFA, as it says that IOC is 2011 and FOC is 2015. This is not just to give the C2's a break in Afghanistan. From seeing first hand the state that our Leo C1/C2 Dozer Blades, Rollers and Plows are in, we need new ones fast.
