The units I belonged to all had RCAF embroidered on their colors. Colors were never changed by any unit in the Canadian Forces.
I can tell you when we went to three distinct uniforms in 1987, that was a huge morale boosting day for those in uniform. It sure felt good to wear the blue uniform after that.
This isn't about increasing ties with monarchy, it has to do with giving our identity back. Imagine if your favourite boyhood park was re-named John Chretien National Park, wouldn't you want the old name back? Now we can truly say we are part of the Canadian Airforce, Navy, or Army. Sure, we still gave ourselves those titles, but if I had a nickel for everytime I heard a civilian say we weren't the Canadian Airforce, I'd be a millionaire now.
This honors our history, traditions, and our past.
